A Sample Challenge Grant

The U.U. Funding Program awards a $7,500 Challenge Grant to the Center for Social Change. The award letter states that only “new” contributions to the Center will be matched.

The Center asks all board members and friends to increase their contributions or make an additional contribution. This raises $2,500. The Center next develops a campaign soliciting gifts from the wider community. This campaign yields another $5,000, totaling $7,500 that is matched by the funder. The net to the Center? $15,000 and an expanded list of proven supporters for the program
